5 People Vanessa Coolwell Wishes Would Knock On Her Door

Vanessa Coolwell 'Knock Knock'

Knock knock. Who's there? A new opportunity? You'll never know if you don't open the door.

The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA) will showcase the next generation of young Indigenous performers in 'Knock Knock'. Showcasing the individual talents of the ACPA students with music, acting and dance, the performance will create a unique tapestry of performance that shines the spotlight on themes of choice, opportunity and freedom.

Renewal is difficult. There's always some form of threshold. The threshold to the fulfilling of a dream, the fulfilling of our potential. The threshold to a world where the bigger, better, more beautiful of the media campaigns is ours.

Suddenly there is a door. Will you walk through it? It could set you free... But you might also be opening the door to a world you are not even ready for. How do we find clarity within our own skin?

Save the date! ACPA's end of year showcase, Knock Knock, is coming soon to the Cremorne Theatre, QPAC . Bookings are now...

ACPA performer Vanessa Coolwell highlights the Top 5 people she wishes would knock on her door:

My Dad

I miss him so much. I would do anything to see him again. I want to hug him and hear his laugh. Tell him all the things I have been doing, with dance and travel, and what I want to do with my future. I want him to tell me everything is OK and he is always with me even though he is gone. If I could only pick one person to knock on my door it would be him.

Michael Jackson

I would love to meet him. He is my biggest inspiration and my favourite artist. Everything he did, he did with so much passion and love. He worked so hard and his presence on stage was like no one else. It was magic. I would love to dance with him and talk about music.

Angelina Jolie

I look up to her a lot; she is very successful and uses her platform to help so many people. I would love to assist her with humanitarian work and travel with her to countries to help those in need. It’s very important to me to give back, and who else better to do that with than Angelina Jolie.

Beyoncé

I have always been a fan of her since Destiny's Child. I love her music. It would be a dream of mine if she was to knock on my door and invite me to go on a world tour. It would be amazing to share the same stage with Beyoncé. She is so powerful and incredibly talented.

Nelson Mandela

It would be such an honour to meet him and talk with him. Hear about his life and how he overcame his struggles. How he stayed motivated to keep fighting for what was right and what he believed in, even though his innocence was taken. I admire how he kept inner-peace and learnt to forgive, even those who hurt him. That is a hard thing to do. Nelson Mandela is a very strong person. He left a mark on this world that will forever live on.

'Knock, Knock' performs the Queensland Performing Arts Centre 5-7 November.
