Melbourne folktronica chanteuse Rose Wintergreen is no stranger to blissing out with her feet in the sand. She shares her tips about about how to enjoy your first nude beach swim of the spring/ summer.
1. Scope the area first, including the sky!
I’ll never forget the time I went for a nude swim on Fraser Island and was sprung by a small, low-flying plane, coming in to land nearby on the beach. I’d been very thorough with making sure there were no approaching four-wheel drives on the beach, and no people walking around. Let’s just say, they saw it all.2. Secure emergency cover
Keep that towel/ jumper/ sarong handy. You may need it in a hurry, and it’s of no use to you if it’s hundreds of metres up the beach!3. Have a getaway plan
Familiarise yourself with at least two exit strategies BEFORE you take your kit off. Make sure you have a car/ bike/ rollerblades/ skateboard/ scooter/ jetski/ horse/ unicycle nearby for a quick exit, should the need arise!4. Make sure there’s no evidence
If you’re with friends, confiscate all phones and photographic devices. No one needs a record!5. Relax
Enjoy the thrill of the danger of not being sure if you’re going to get caught, but don’t let it sabotage the experience. Soak it up.
