One of Australia's finest supergroups is back, this time honouring the classic Eagles' album 'Hotel California'.
The Australian Rock Collective (ARC) – featuring Kram (Spiderbait), Darren Middleton (Powderfinger), Mark Wilson (Jet) and Davey Lane (You Am I) – who have covered the likes of The Beatles, Neil Young, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin during part tours, turn their attention to one of the finest albums of the 20th century.
Released in December 1976, 'Hotel California' was the fifth studio album by the American rockers, the band's first record with guitarist Joe Walsh (who remains with the band to this day), who had replaced founding member Bernie Leadon, and the last to feature founding bassist/ vocalist Randy Meisner (who died in 2023).
Produced by Bill Szymczyk (who also worked with B.B. King, REO Speedwagon and The Who during the '70s-'80s) 'Hotel California' collected two awards at the 1978 Grammy Awards including Record Of The Year for the title track. It also features 'Life In The Fast Lane' and 'New Kid In Town'.
ARC's Eagles tour – that will visit Northern Rivers, Brisbane, Newcastle, Wollongong, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth in June – will see the group perform 'Hotel California' in full alongside a second set of Eagles' other hits.
"Strap yourselves in and be our esteemed guests as we set the controls for the heart of the sunny Californian state," Davey Lane says, "the spirit of '76 and one of the greatest selling albums of all time – the Eagles' 'Hotel California'.
"It's incredibly precise and loose, fast and easy (seemingly) – we're not shy of challenging ourselves and this could be the most challenging yet.
"We've been very lucky to grace some of the greatest Australian venues and concert halls over the last seven years we've annually done this and we're limbering up for this to be the biggest tour yet. We might even grow moustaches especially for the occasion!"
Tickets on sale from 11am (local time) on 16 March.
