“Hallelujah for Jonathan, Leonard Cohen.”

Leonard Cohen is reincarnating to sing many of his highly acclaimed songs as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival at the Shedley Theatre, Playford Civic Centre.

Jonathan Anstock, a mental health therapist and Cohen song lover, will sing many of Cohen’s highly acclaimed songs and also expose Leonard’s mental health challenge and spiritual striving.

'Hallelujah' has had a massive impact, having been recorded by over 300 artists. It is a song which has “earthed” the concepts of spiritual journey and re-connection.

Cohen’s sexual exploits are explicitly exposed in many of his songs, such as 'Chelsea Hotel', which is about Janis Joplin who died of an overdose, 'Boogie Street' where you could get any sexual favour you wanted and 'I’m Your Man'.

He exposes his jealousies ('Famous Blue Raincoat'), his love of women ('Suzanne', 'So Long Marianne' and others).

Cohen also manages to prick our political and social conscience with songs like 'Everybody Knows' and 'The Future'.

After a turbulent love life and spiritual search, Cohen eventually comes to acceptance, resolution and some peace. His song 'Anthem' is famed for the line, “There is a crack in everything; That’s how the light gets in”. And doesn’t the world need more light just now!

Jonathan’s highly acclaimed Leonard Cohen show has touched thousands in Queensland and New South Wales. Don’t miss 'LEONARD COHEN: His Life, Ladies And Lovers'.

'LEONARD COHEN: His Life, Ladies And Lovers' plays Shedley Theatre (Adelaide Fringe) 20-21 March.
