Adelaide-born, LA-based singer Sarah D has been a finalist of California’s Hard Rock Battle Of the Bands.
She was also awarded a VocalizeU Art Intensive scholarship, which introduced her to the vocal coaches and producers who have worked with Justin Bieber, Jordin Sparks, Rihanna and Britney Spears.
With new music scheduled for release in 2016, Sarah D shares her essential ingredients for ANY smoothie recipe.
1. Goji Berries
These tiny berries are some of my favourite to add to any smoothie recipe. Goji berries are loaded with beta-carotene (a pigment found in plants and fruits) that helps promote healthy skin.
They also have been known to help boost the immune system and protect the eyes. Though you can’t taste them in a smoothie, they add additional nutrients.
2. Dates
I have recently fallen in love with adding dates to my smoothies! Dates are rich in dietary fibre, antioxidants and the essential minerals potassium and magnesium. They also add a little chewiness depending on how much they have been blended.
3. Almond milk
Almond milk is what binds all the smoothie ingredients together, giving it a deliciously creamy texture. It is rich in vitamins and also boasts an impressive dose of bone-building calcium. The vitamin D in almond milk is also known to improve cell function and immunity. I can’t have a smoothie without it.{youtube}_p_raW6Y73w{/youtube}
4. Chia seeds
Again, you can’t really taste chia seeds in a smoothie but they add a lot of nutritional value. Chia seeds are among the most nutritious foods on the planet. They are loaded with fibre, protein, Omega-3 fatty acids and various micronutrients.
