Feed The Beast is Eden Mulholland's debut solo album. Urgent and driving, then cooly understated and sculpted, it's only Eden's signature vocals that light the way through his complex musical landscape.
'I Will Echo', the first single from Feed The Beast, was premiered by Triple J's Dom Allessio and described by Triple J's Lewi McKirdy as "super catchy", with an "infectious hook and the politeness of pop". Eden — also the frontman of popular group Motocade — celebrated the single's release with a packed gig at the Grace Darling in Melbourne.
Once a contemporary dancer, it seems certain that Eden's experimental approach to composition has been shaped by the unconventional path his life has taken. It's tempting to describe this as the "pop music of the future", and it's certainly been said, but it's not true; not really — in the future, most people will be just as boring as they are now, and most pop musicians will be just as conventional.
Eden Mulholland will probably be even more fascinating, though.
Eden plays the following dates on his Feed The Beast album tour, supporting David Bridie:
Thu Jul 11 — Mullum Civic Memorial Hall
Sat Jul 13 — Brisbane Powerhouse
Sat Jul 20 — Northcote Social Club
Thu Jul 25 — Clarendon Guesthouse (Katoomba)
Fri Jul 26 — The Basement (Sydney)
Sun Jul 28 — Lizottes (Newcastle)
Sat Aug 17 — The Republic Bar (Hobart)
