A deadset legend on the footy field, former AFL player who amassed 336 AFL games, Nick Riewoldt has proven once again why he is one of the nicest people in sports.
The all-round good guy was attending Riley Green's second Melbourne concert on Saturday night (14 March) with his wife, standing in the GA section near the front of the stage. "We had GA tickets because Cath [Riewoldt's wife] wanted to be on the floor," shared Nick.
He had already encountered the future phone chucker earlier in the evening when said moron filmed Nick without asking, exuding "big-energy" vibes and acting like a "real wanker".
Discussing the incident on Triple M's Mick in the Morning today, he shared with his co-hosts Mick Molloy, Rosie Walton, and Titus O'Reilly that it looked like the bloke was trying to "throw the stumps down from mid-wicket" when he launched the phone at Riley from only 10-15 metres away, clipping the American country music singer-songwriter in the ear and immediately drawing blood.
Riewoldt: "I saw this happen; it unfolded right in front of me. We wanted to be as close to the stage as possible.
"I pegged this bloke early on – the bloke who has eventually thrown his phone – as being a real wanker. He was a loose cannon, he was real 'big energy' vibes.
"The sort of bloke that comes over asks you for a photo, you pose for him, and then he starts heaping sh.t on you afterwards. . . he did this to me. He was filming [me] during the concert."
Mick: "Filming you without your permission or approval?"
Riewoldt: "Yeah and just saying some pretty ordinary stuff. It was a bit inappropriate and weird. Eventually, the second to last song finishes and out of nowhere he has launched – like he was trying to throw the stumps down from mid-wicket – his phone at Riley Green and hit in in the head."

Mick: "Why?"
Riewoldt: "I don't know, you can only assume!"
Titus: "How far was he [from the stage]?"
Riewoldt: "It was an amazing throw, I reckon we were 10-15 metres away. He smashed him in the side of the head and took everyone by surprise. I was standing right behind him, so I grabbed him.
"He's done it and everyone was a bit shocked. Riley Green handled it pretty amazingly; he just said can we get the lights on. I pointed the guy out and within three seconds security came and grabbed him. Security whisked him off."
Green continues his Australian tour with two Sydney concerts (tonight and tomorrow) before travelling to Brisbane for this weekend's CMC Rocks QLD.
Earlier in the segment, Mick had throw shade at Nick for his fashion sense.
Mick: "I saw a picture of you there. . . you looked like Woody from 'Toy Story' crossed with the cowboy from the Village People (laughs)."
Riewoldt: "I was going to say a Wrangler model (laughs), I thought I was doing some good work!"
