What are you doing on Monday September 10? Want to observe some snake charming followed by an 8-year-old boy cracking a whip? Thought so.
Aussie fans of the Indiana Jones franchise will get first dibs next month when the newly remastered films are released on Blu-ray in Pitt St Mall two days ahead of the world.
Steven Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burrt have been hard at work, trawling frame-by-frame through the original film negatives of Raiders of the Lost Ark to enhance and repair the original copy. The other three films have received the same treatment; The Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade and The Crystal Skull are all freshly remastered and JB Hi-Fi will receive the world’s very first shipment.
Indy enthusiasts can, for the first time ever, grab all the films in a single high definition set with over seven hours of bonus features.
On top of the snake charming and the whip cracking display by the winner of the Pee Wee Whip Cracking competition at this year’s Easter Show (is someone having us on?), attendees will be treated with the presence of John Rhys Davies, who played Sallah in the Jones films. Davies, who also starred in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy (and, lest we forget, The Trial Of The Incredible Hulk), will be available for photographs.
Celebrations start from 6:30pm. The rest of the world will be able to buy the set, which belongs in a museum, on Wednesday September 12.
