Abbie Chatfield, Keli Holiday

Australian media personality Abbie Chatfield has issued a public apology after speculation mounted around her partner Keli Holiday being denied re-entry into the United States midway through his North American tour.

Holiday – the solo project of Adam Hyde – revealed over the weekend that he had been detained at the Canadian border and refused entry back into the US. The situation forced the cancellation of his scheduled New York performance and abruptly ended the US leg of the tour.

Online speculation quickly turned toward a controversial video Chatfield posted last year that referenced political violence in America. In a lengthy Instagram statement shared overnight, Chatfield apologised for what she described as a “very bad joke”, saying she deeply regretted the clip and understood how her words could be interpreted.

“I have done so much growing,” Chatfield said in the video, adding that she now takes “more time to reflect” before posting publicly. She also clarified that she was not advocating political violence and insisted Hyde “hadn’t even seen” the original video.
