The Oz Night Market officially celebrated its one-year anniversary last Saturday (25 April).
Located inside the undercover car park of Booval Fair Shopping Centre, the Oz Night Market is open every Saturday from 5:30-9pm. South-east Queensland’s largest collection of international cuisine was on display once again during the anniversary festivities over the weekend, showcasing the best of the best in culinary delights.

The increasingly popular event draws a crowd of over 1,300 people every week, and it's not just for the food. Over 60, local businesses have stalls at the event, allowing visitors to browse through a wide variety of products.

However, don't expect the traditional market wares. Dedicated to all things hand-crafter and quirky, you will not find these products in the shops. From handmade soaps and candles through to an interesting replica-weapon collection that will leave everyone saying “that's a knife!”.

The anniversary event featured amazing performances by local Afro-Brazilian musicians who danced and drummed their way through the happy crowds before drawing the crowd towards their stage performance. If you weren't captivated by the band, and their dancers, than you were only going to be found in one other place – near the food stalls.
My first stop for the evening was Taco Fiesta, and their promise of the best tacos this side of the border did not disappoint. This two-person team rocked the Mexican cuisine out all night to a never ceasing line of eager market-goers. Despite this dish filling me up, I simply couldn't leave without grabbing a mouth-watering Cheese Kranski at the German sausage stall.

However, don't make the mistake that I did as you are going to want to leave room for dessert – waffles, chocolate-dipped churros, crepes and so much more, so pack an empty stomach; oh, and bring some cash!
