The Second Annual Rods & Rockabilly Festival

Rods & Rockabilly Festival

The Hamilton Hotel’s second annual Rods & Rockabilly Festival will feature live rockabilly bands, kustom kulture markets, hot rods and bikes, a pin-up girl competition, burlesque performances, an art show, a photography exhibition and so much more.

The only festival of its kind in the heart of Brisbane, the main focus is on supporting the local rockabilly scene, as well as incorporating some special guests from around Australia and abroad. The inaugural Rods & Rockabilly Festival was an idea born between Hamilton Hotel venue manager, Steve Searles, and staff members of the hotel who were enthusiasts of the scene.

Steve is very pleased with the level of excitement surrounding the festival. “We discovered that there was an entire music community hungry for more events like this. It was a great event last year and we are keen to continue to provide excellent entertainment for the rockabilly community in 2015.”

One of the highlights of the festival will be the pin-up competition. The festival is privileged to have special guest photographers Mitzi & Co. Photography from San Dimas, California attending. Mitzi is a renowned pin-up photographer with 11 years of experience. As part of the festival she will be taking a limited number of bookings for the day as well as running photo shoots with the dolls from the pin-up competition.

Another hallmark of the festival will be the kustom kulture markets, selling hand-made clothing, accessories, rockabilly influenced bric-a-brac and also food stalls. The markets include the talents of Show Boat Sally, Eye Create Designs and Rockabilly Baby Vintage and are part of a growing list of retailers who will be in attendance.
