Supanova 2015 Is Pop Culture Heaven

Jon Heder

Nerds of Adelaide and Brisbane, pack your DS and don your cosplay… it's almost con time!

That's right, Supanova is on its way and as more and more Supa-Star guests are added to the schedule, we'll give you a rundown on the who's who of Supanova 2015.

One of the recently confirmed guests is a headliner that most nerds can't seem to get enough of. Whether you know her from 'Firefly', 'Serenity', 'Dollhouse', 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' or 'Arrow', Summer Glau has always been a fan favourite at Supanova.

If you love the British sense of humour and cult-classic films, chances are you're already a big fan of Nick Frost. Widely known for his role in everyone's favourite zombie movie, 'Shaun Of The Dead' and hit comedy 'Hot Fuzz', this comedic genius has to be on your Supanova schedule!

From playing one of our favourite Gryffindors through to transforming into one of the most handsome men alive, Matthew Lewis is the patronus you've been searching for. With an acting career that began at the age of five, Matthew's latest film, 'Me Before You', is set for release in June, 2016. Whether you want him to sign your copy of Deathly Hallows or his shirtless cover of Attitude, make sure you line-up early!

Repping the Southern Cross, Australia's own Stef Dawson and Richard Carter are set to attend Supanova this year. Stef Dawson has returned home from the premiere of 'Mockingjay – Part 2' (due to release in Australia 20 Nov.) and has been receiving rave reviews for her role as Annie Cresta in the film.

You might know Richard Carter as The Bullet Farmer in 'Mad Max: Fury Road', but he's been gracing our screens since the 1980s when he began with a small recurring role on 'Sons And Daughters'.

You didn't need to grow-up in the 1960s to enjoy the two Barbaras that are next on our 'must-see' list (though, you may want to save yourself a little embarrassment by not mentioning these Supa-Stars to your parents). Barbara Eden from 'I Dream Of Jeannie' and 'Get Smart's own Barbara Feldon are some of Hollywood's busiest actresses and will both be hosting Q&As as well as autograph and photo sessions for those diehard fans.

Rughhhhhh!! Everyone's favourite Wookie, albeit a little less furry, Peter Mayhew will be showing us how to speak Shyriiwook. It doesn't matter what you're cosplaying as this year, it's going to be hard to standout around this 7'3” tower. Reprising his role in 'Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens', you can head to his Q&A session if you want to try and find out some spoilers or just sit in awe.

Nunchuck skills. Bowhunting skills. Computer-hacking skills. Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills, and Jon Heder's skills are definitely nothing to scoff at. From a figure-skating fiend in 'Blades Of Glory' to everyone's favourite, awkward dork in 'Napoleon Dynamite', if there's one session you have to check out it's Heder's. Or do whatever your feel like you wanna do, gosh!

Still not convinced you need to check out Supanova this year? This is just the tip of the nerdy iceberg! Meet the Blue and Yellow Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Karan Ashley and David Yost. Say hello to Goku himself (or at least the voice actor who plays him, Sean Schemmel).

Have ALL of your comics signed by comic royalty, Dave Gibbons. Talk all things 'Mad Max: Fury Road' with storyboard artist, concept designer are prequel comic co-writer and artist, Mark Sexton. Or you can be inspired by local talent, find a new, favourite fandom from an author you've only just discovered, or simply connect with your people.

Supanova makes its way to the Adelaide Showgrounds 20-22 November and the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre 27-29 November.
