After the success of its inaugural event staged in July (featuring The Chats and The Dreggs), Sunshine Coast festival AIRWAVES is returning for another instalment in January.
Once again spread across two days but this time taking place at the newly opened NightQuarter, the Saturday edition of AIRWAVES will welcome Aussie electronic legends Sneaky Sound System, who'll be joined by the movin' and grovin' Bootleg Rascal and electro-pop sounds of Boo Seeka.
2020 triple j Unearthed Artist Of The Year finalist Jaguar Jonze, psych-surf rockers Peach Fur and The Oogars plus Northern Coast singer-rapper Lemaire round out the Saturday bill.
The Sunday will feature a decidedly chilled, more relaxed offering with folk acoustic kings The Beautiful Girls and roots-rock singer-songwriter Ash Grunwald headlining.
Veteran crowd favourites Mason Rack, Dan Hannaford and Hussy Hicks will be itching to get back on stage with their bands to bust out the blues as well.
However, the entertainment doesn't stop there with Event Director, Cindy Jensen tapping into her black book of Buskers by the Lake sideshow performers to bring an element of shocking surprise to the event, with human lightning, aerial cosmonauts and energy on fire thrown into the mix.
"Space Cowboy is a prolific world record holder best known for his sword swallowing and death-defying feats, and this time he'll be bringing a high voltage act like no other," Cindy says.
"My favourite freak will have a million volts of electricity surge through his body to create lightning and it's definitely a stunt our punters shouldn't try at home."
