Originally slated for 23-24 January weekend, organisers of Sunshine Coast's AIRWAVES Festival have been forced to postpone the event due to the ongoing state border closure Queensland has with New South Wales.
With those restrictions set to be reviewed on 31 January, the original festival dates became infeasible with a number of acts scheduled to perform living in Sydney."Due to other festival commitments, Boo Seeka, Hussy Hicks and Bootleg Rascal can no longer join us on our outer space mission on 27-28 March," AIRWAVES posted on their Facebook page.
"But hold onto your seats, replacement acts will be announced soon. We're working hard behind the scenes to bring you the best festival experience possible. WE WON'T LET COVID BEAT US!"
Set to feature Sneaky Sound System, The Beautiful Girls, Ash Grunwald and a stack more, Event Director Cindy Jensen is rolling with the punches as coronavirus continues to plague the planning and promotional of live music events throughout Australia.
"It's certainly not something that's easy to digest, especially given the cancellation of our big sister event, Buskers By The Lake last October and the third night of AIRWAVES – The Drive-In Music Festival back in July.
"But as promoters, we feel a natural responsibility to continue to support our industry, fans and partners and we refuse to be defeated by COVID!"
Tickets already purchased remain valid for the rescheduled dates. Refunds are available upon request. Second round tickets are now available.
AIRWAVES Festival takes place 27 March at NightQuarter (Sunshine Coast).
