For the first time in six years, Tash Sultana will headline an Australian tour.
The three-date east-coast run will visit Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne early October, with Tash confirming these will be their only Australian 2025 shows, with no further dates to be added to these intimate concerts – it's first in, best dressed folks.
Ahead of the tour, Tash will be one of the keynote speakers at BIGSOUND with a special in-conversation event titled 'Return To The Roots'. They join an impressive list of 2025 speakers. "Our second conference announcement has just dropped and believe us when we say it is unmissable," declares BIGSOUND.
"Amplifying our theme of 'connection that counts', the line-up features multi-instrumentalist and ARIA Album Charts topping artist Tash Sultana, First Nations rapper and label owner Briggs, First Nations rapper and actor Kobie Dee, 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup official title song-holder Mallrat, and one of Brit-pop's greatest drummers, Blur's David Rowntree, to name only a few!"
2025 has seen Tash release their tasty 'Return To The Roots' EP, a six-track project dubbed 'a creative recalibration' – the opportunity for an artist to rediscover the spontaneity of creativity and passion-fuelled art.
"My goal for 'Return To The Roots' was to capture a feeling I used to have when I played music for no other reason than pure, honest, unfiltered art," Tash says.
The EP is highlighted by a number of tracks, led by the sultry, aquatic-flavoured dub-roots of 'Milk & Honey' (reminiscent of Salmonella Dub), the horn-licious, velvety dub-reggae of 'Kiss The Sky', and the hypnotic beauty, hip hop-rock flow of 'Hold On' (just wait for the stirring piano line melded to mesmerising saxophone tones).
The City and Colour collab 'Ain't It Kinda Funny' is also another banger, simmering with a countrified rootsy pop-rock. "With this music, I went back to the beginning – to help me rediscover that spark of when I first started making music," Tash posted recently.
"It's pure and unfiltered me, having gone through a journey in my life and career to get to this point. For those of you who have been around for a while, thank you. If you're new here, welcome and enjoy."

1: Kaiit
Kaiit's been a standout voice in Australian soul since day one. 'Miss Shiney' still hits hard – smooth, empowering, and just dripping with style. I'm pumped to see her back onstage, doing what she does best. Her energy is undeniable and her tone is one of a kind.2: Le Shiv
Le Shiv have this gritty, psych-pop flavour that reminds me why I love live music so much. 'Don't Break' is such a sick track – dirty guitars, catchy hooks, just raw enough. They bring chaos and melody together in a way that's super dynamic. Definitely keen to catch their set.3: KYE
KYE is smooth, polished, and powerful. 'Tuesday' shows off that effortless blend of R&B and pop with a real emotional undercurrent. Her vocals are clean, her stage presence is strong – I'm looking forward to soaking that one in live.
4: Bad/Love
Bad/Love taps into that anthemic alt-pop space, but it's got teeth. 'Feel Good' is cinematic and emotional, which is a combo I'm always drawn to. I'm curious to see how that sound translates onstage – it feels built for the big moments.
5: Intermood
There's a real moodiness to Intermood's sound – a bit ambient, a bit indie, kind of hypnotic. 'Casuarina' caught my attention straight away. It's the kind of track that makes you stop what you're doing and actually listen.
