BIGSOUND 2025 Artist Line-up

L-R top to bottom: Josh Setterfield, Kaiit, Wafia, Late 90s
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

BIGSOUND have hatched the next batch of emerging music talent to walk the same stages as Flume, Tash Sultana, Tones And I, Courtney Barnett, Baker Boy, and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard with more than 120 artists named on their 2025 line-up.

A breeding ground for Australia's finest next-gen musicians and bands, BIGSOUND is the southern hemisphere's premiere music industry event that also incorporates a massive conference programme and other initiatives. It takes over Fortitude Valley entertainment district, becoming a playground for new music discovery 2-5 September, 2025.

Spread across 18 stages, the music showcase programme is curated by Festival Programmers Casey O'Shaughnessy and Katie Rynne, as well as the talented Programming Advisory Group, and features acts across multitude of genres; from rock and pop, to country, R&B, folk, punk, electronic and hip hop. "We're thrilled to finally share the BIGSOUND 2025 line-up with you," says O'Shaughnessy and Rynne.

"Curating this year's programme has been such a joy – the artists we've selected reflect the incredible depth of talent in Australia, and each one is doing truly exciting things with their music. We're so proud of this group and can't wait to see them bring the Fortitude Valley to life in September.

"We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every single artist who applied. We were genuinely blown away by the quality, creativity and diversity of submissions – it made the selection process incredibly tough, in the best possible way.

"There's so much talent out there, and while we couldn't include everyone this year, we recognise the heart you put into your music, and we're excited for what lies ahead for you."

Sprinkled in amongst the fresh talent are some more established artists ready to blow, at a national and international level including Wafia, whose brand of soulful electronic/R&B music has been capturing audiences around the world. BIGSOUND will mark her first shows back in Australia since embarking on a brand-new chapter of artistry.

Recent APRA Music Award winner (Most Performed RnB/Soul Work) Naarm-based Papua New Guinean neo-soul artist Kaiit is set to release their debut album 'And Off She Goes' in 2025. Another APRA Music Award winner (2024 Most Performed Rock Work), Sydney garage rockers Polish Club have also been nominated for an ARIA and last month released their sixth studio album album, 'Pound Cake'.

WA dance punks Last Quokka are building a solid fan base with their heavy rhythms and catchy riffs that have seen them support Gang of Four and Amyl And The Sniffers. Josh Setterfield is a certified country star in the making who made his CMC Rocks QLD debut this year – read our review of his 2024 concert that we described as a 'stadium-level spectacle'.

Northern NSW and Brisbane indie rockers Eliza & The Delusionals have already collected a J Award nomination for Album Of The Year (2022), and are currently finishing off a two-month US tour following their 2022 visit to North America. Another WA product is alt-rock burgeoning powerhouse Late 90s, who haver already shared stages with Neck Deep (we described their opening slot as: 'Late 90s unleashed a ferocious set that shook the venue to its core'), Taking Back Sunday and State Champs.

Set to play upcoming European summer festivals Download Festival, Copenhell, Hellfest and more, hard rockers The Southern River Band already have four albums to its name and a live reputation built on an insatiable confidence and stage presence.

Beloved for her blend of dreamy pop and shoegaze soundscapes, Magandjin's own Hatchie (an AIR and J Award nominee) is set to serve a potent reminder of her songwriting and performance talents. While Adelaide's The Tullamarines brand of indie rock-pop has seen them make appearances at Laneway Festival and NYE On The Hill as well as supporting The Vaccindes, Everything, Everything and Dear Seattle.

Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek acknowledged the importance of BIGSOUND 2025 as a key industry event that attracts musicians, industry managers, music lovers and visitors to the state.

"BIGSOUND is a highlight on our calendar of events, and it serves an important role in helping to amplify Queensland's reputation as a vibrant cultural destination.

"The Crisafulli Government is proud to support BIGSOUND to back our local music artists, venues and businesses, while creating a thriving live music scene ahead of Brisbane 2032."

Tickets to the music showcase programme go on sale from 9am (local time) on 13 Friday. Both three-night and single-night tickets are available. Early bird all-access delegate passes are still available.

BIGSOUND 2025 runs 2-5 September at various locations in Fortitude Valley (Brisbane).
