Performers, businesses and residential home owners can express interest to be part of the internationally renowned but very local 2019 Anywhere Festival.
Creators of all types of performance, businesses and residential home owners are invited to express interest in performing at the ninth Anywhere Festival in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Noosa from 9-26 May 2019 as well as Geelong on 25-27 January 2019.
Anywhere Festival is the festival of performance anywhere. There's one catch though... The performance has to be anywhere you wouldn't expect it.
Music gigs in houses, theatre in heritage sites, comedy in warehouses, dance in swimming pools, circus in great courts.
"We're looking for performers young and old who want to push boundaries," Founder of Anywhere Festival Paul Osuch says, "and the homes and businesses who like to host them."
Performers have ranged from well known acts including Edinburgh hit The Travelling Sisters who began with an Anywhere Festival show in a Paddington hair salon through to first time producers.
You can join the ranks of circus artist Alex Mizzen with his big glass box... The bright and colourful antics of Folly Games' 'Glampire Masquerade'... The musical suitcase collaborations of Melissa Main... The nautical adventures of Act/React's 'Vampire Squid' and many more who have explored and conquered the Anywhere Theatre Festival in past years.
It's not hard to be inspired by the endless possibilities of the festival; the concept of being able to present theatre anywhere but the theatre is enough to send a creative mind into overdrive.
Businesses and residential homes have held performances in basements, driveways, offices, backyards, bars, boxing rings, pools, campuses for audiences of small and large sized.
