Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The Weeknd has postponed his Australian east coast tour just weeks before it was due to start.

Fans of the Canadian record-breaking singer, songwriter and producer have been stunned by his low-information announcement via Australian leg promoter Live Nation.

In a message to his fans, The Weeknd said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour. New dates will be announced next year and current tickets will be valid for the new shows. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend the new dates. Deeply disappointed but can't wait to be there with you!”

The star had sold out Sydney's Accor Stadium twice over and had repeated the feat for Melbourne's Marvel Stadium with two more shows on sale at the time of the cancellation. The tour was scheduled to start in Brisbane this month on Monday 20th. Full details of the Weekend's east coast tour were announced on scenestr in late August.

Otherwise known as Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, The Weeknd has released five studio albums, with this tour celebrating 2020 album 'After Hours' and 2022 album 'Dawn FM'.

Variety reported the ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour made over $US350 million in sales as of July, making it the highest grossing tour by a black artist, surpassing Michael Jackson’s ‘HIStory World Tour’ in the late ‘90s.
