British indie royalty, The Kooks return to Australia in 2025.
Already slotted in to play Yours & Owls (Wollongong), and just added as Party In The Paddock's secret headliner act, the Brighton pop-rockers will also headline concerts in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth next February-March. "Australia, we couldn't resist, looks like we'll be seeing you very soon🫶 🇦🇺," posted The Kooks, who were originally meant to tour Australia in 2024, including dates at Groovin The Moo before the festival dates were cancelled.
A band celebrating their 20th birthday in 2024, The Kooks are one of the few '00s contemporary indie acts not only still active, but who remain relevant.
With a song bag jammed with classics including 'Naive', 'She Moves In Her Own Way', 'Seaside' and 'Ooh La' from their 2006 debut album 'Inside In / Inside Out', alongside later hits like 'Always Where I Need To Be', 'Junk Of The Heart', 'Taking Pictures Of You', 'Bad Habit' and 'Sweet Emotion', The Kooks influence on contemporary indie music is undeniable.
Now with six studio albums in their collection, the most recent being 2022's '10 Tracks To Echo In The Dark' ('featuring 'Beautiful World', 'Oasis' and 'Connection'), The Kooks have explored a diverse range of styles – from futuristic synth-pop to stripped back prog rock.
Set to join the tour as the main support act is American folk-rock singer-songwriter Briston Maroney ('Freakin' Out On The Interstate', 'Small Talk', 'Caroline'); these will be the Knoxville native's first shows in Australia.
