A cultural escape from the daily grind of everyday life, The Gum Ball's 2024 offering features 36 artists – both emerging and established – who are headed to Hunter Valley's Dashville this ANZAC Day long weekend.
A staple of the local events calendar for almost two decades, event organisers revealed a selection of the 2024 bill just before Christmas including The Cramps and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds guitarist, Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds. Coterie, Emily Wurrumara, Jet City Sports Club, Melody Pool, Radium Dolls and RVG were also part of the first round announce. Five-time ARIA Award winner and alternative rock singer-songwriter, Dan Sultan ('Old Fitzroy', 'Fortress') leads the new arrivals alongside noise-rock agitators Tropical F... Storm (with frontman Gareth Liddiard to perform a special solo Gum Ball set on ANZAC Day), Aussie funk-blues maestro The Lachy Doley Group, and legendary Aussie punk OGs Hard-Ons (with newest member Tim Rogers).
Then there's the ARIA Award-winning Australian children's music group Teeny Tiny Stevies, funk-soul-disco band Vaudeville Smash (best known for their 2014 hit 'Zinedine Zidane'), Brisbane soul-brass-jazz-funk collective Bullhorn, folk-blues-gospel singer-songwriter Karl S. Williams and indie rock groover Joe Mungovan.
"Ok friends! The band and I are coming to The Gum Ball festival along with this absolutely incredible line-up. We are proud as punch to be among so many artists we respect and admire. This will sell out in a hurry so get onto a ticket early," Karl S. Williams says.
"We're playing The Gum Ball festival this year and we couldn't be more stoked about it!" shares Joe Mungovan. Adds Teeny Tiny Stevies: "This is gonna be an absolute (gum) ball {sorry}. Good job April!"
There are a few things that separate The Gum Ball from other festivals. Run by a small team of music lovers on their family property, there is a certain charm to its existence, one which has allowed the boutique festival to slowly become a cherished cultural escape with something on offer for anyone with a passion for live music.
The natural bushland space of Dashville makes for an incredible home away from home and The Gum Ball is their flagship event of the year.
A comfortable and inclusive festival experience, connecting music lovers from all walks and ages of life, with some great hand-picked recording artists from across Australia, as well as locally and overseas. One big central stage presents a three-day musical journey as artists perform one by one, between the big tall gum trees that wrap across the idyllic arena space.
Tickets are on sale.
The Gum Ball takes place at Dashville (Hunter Valley) 25-28 April.
