A staple of Hunter Valley's events calendar, the locally cherished cultural escape that is The Gum Ball is back for its 19th instalment in 2024.
Situated in the majestic bushlands of Dashville (Wonnarua), the 2024 event takes place across the last weekend of April (25-28th) offering music lovers as well as outdoor revellers a stack of entertainment.Aside from the live music – which plays on one stage surrounded by the tall gums, so no set clashes – The Gum Ball programme also includes live art, comedy, pro skateboarding, markets, workshops, and much more.
With the complete 2024 line-up to drop late January, event organisers have shared the first 16 artists who are headed to The Gum Ball this year.
A founding member of cowpunk-blues outfit The Gun Club and guitarist for legendary psycho-billy purveyors The Cramps as well as Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds will arrive at The Gum Ball direct from the US.
Another international arrival will be New Zealand reggae-funk-rock brothers Coterie ('Cool It Down', 'Where We Began') alongside global travellers and Melbourne natives RVG, the indie rock, post-punk band recently winning the 2023 Australian Music Prize for their album 'Brain Worms'.
Other notable additions include metallers Battlesnake ('Nightmare King'), party funksters Burger Joint, late '90s, early '00s alt rockers Dallas Crane ('Dirty Hearts'), indigenous singer-songwriter Emily Wurrumara ('Lady Blue'), guitar-driven indie rockers Jet City Sports Club, country-roots singer-songwriter Melody Pool and Brisbane rockers Radium Dolls. Stay tuned for the complete line-up reveal in late January.
