After its inaugural event last year, Sunshine Sounds Festival returns to the Sunshine Coast for another instalment of all-ages, family-friendly live music and celebration of community.
The boutique event, which featured the likes of Kate Miller-Heidke, Busby Marou, Miiesha, Jack Carty and Sahara Beck last year, will again take place at Eumundi Showgrounds, and is once more led by superwoman songstress Katie Noonan and her Kin Music crew."Sunshine Sounds is a truly special little festival that really brings people together," Katie says, who lives locally in Eumundi.
"There's a real sense of community connection, welcoming music lovers, and indeed performers, of all ages and stages."
This year, Katie will join forces with her brother Tyrone Noonan as the pair are joined by a band (including Katie's son Dexter) to perform george's seminal double-platinum album 'Polyserena'.
King of rock & roll cool, Tim Rogers will also be packing his bags for Sunshine Sounds alongside another co-headliner, ARIA-winning Clare Bowditch and her band, who is just a tad excited by the prospect.
"Sunshine Coast, me and Marty are coming your WAY! It's Sunshine Sounds Festival. Whohoooooo!!!!"
The remainder of the line-up is soaked in indie and local talent: Hat Fitz And Cara, Asha Jefferies, Andrea Kirwin and the Yama-Nui Social Club, Band Of Frequencies, JaZZella, Deline Briscoe, Layla Barnett, Zara, Lyndon Davis and the Gubbi Gubbi Dancers as well as the Eumundi School Of Rock.
"Eumundi School Of Rock is a super-special free education and mentorship programme for young musos from 8 to 17 years," Katie says.
"The Friday programme sees four Eumundi School Of Rock bands play live on the big stage, performing alongside none other than rock god himself Tim Rogers, frontman for You Am I.
"Three of our brilliant past students – Lochie Kapper on guitar, Niamh Stevens on bass and Dexter Hurren on drums – will be backing Tim himself, and to close the concert, all of the 2022 rockers will rock out in an epic 26-piece band with Tim.
"The Saturday programme includes our Sunshine Sounds Community Choir, where festival goers get to join in what promises to be a goosebumps-inducing group sing-song for all ages and abilities.
"And the choir song for this year is 'The Dead Heart' by Midnight Oil."
Sunshine Sounds Festival takes place at Eumundi Showgrounds (Sunshine Coast) 29-30 July.
Daily and two-day ticket options are currently available.
