UK post-punk band, Shame are headed to Australia this summer.
The South London group, known for their songs 'One Rizla', 'Concrete', 'Fingers Of Steel', 'Alphabet' and 'Snow Day', have been drafted in to support Fontaines D.C. on their Australian tour (replacing Wunderhorse).Shame will also headline their own concerts in Sydney and Melbourne alongside joining the Yours & Owls line-up in Wollongong. "Surfs up, bitch," the band posted.
"The POMs are back down under with our favourites Fontaines D.C. Expect headline shows, support shows (headline shows but shorter) and backflips. It's been far too long, come and get amongst it c...s."
With new music currently in the works, Shame's most recent studio album was 2023's 'Food For Worms' that was produced by Flood (U2, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave) and showcased far more eclectic influences, drawing from the tense atmospherics of Merchandise, the sharp yet uncomplicated lyrical observations of Lou Reed and the more melodic works of '90s German band, Blumfeld.
The UK's New Sounds Magazine reflected that Shame has 'risen their heads above the parapet of post-punk pyrotechnics', with their live shows evolving from 'entertaining to unmissable'. Let that serve as a warning.
Headline tickets on sale from 11am (local time) on 24 January, with tickets to Fontaines D.C. concerts currently available.
