Irish post punks Fontaines D.C. return to Australia in 2025.
The Dublin band, responsible for such hits 'I Love You', 'Jackie Down The Line' and 'Starburster' will headline concerts in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as well as appearing at Yours & Owls and Golden Plains Festival next February-March.Fontaines D.C. recently released their fourth studio, titled 'Romance', an 11-track journey that sees the group lean more into dreamy Slowdive-esque textures that may surprise fans.
"We say things on this record we've wanted to say for a long time. I never feel like it’s over, but it's nice to feel lighter," vocalist Grian Chatten says.
The sonic evolution of the band, who bared their teeth in early records with antagonistic punk sensibilities, is an ascent into grungier breaks, dystopian electronica, hip hop percussion.
"I think every artist speaks about how special a record is to them when it is released – and when they do, we are often trying to discern their level of sincerity, and if it's just for furthering themselves down some stream of success that they've found themselves in," the band posted when 'Romance' was released.
"I would then instead like to say that today is not about our record – it is about our love and appreciation for each other, our families, our friends, for our crew we hold so dearly, for our management, label, everyone we work with, for our inspiring fans, and most of all – for Trevor Dietz."
Joining Fontaines D.C.'s headlining shows will be English indie rockers Wunderhorse ('Leaders Of The Pack', 'Teal').
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 31 October.
