Surf's up for Island Vibe Festival in 2019 with the second wave of acts set to bring the vibes to North Stradbroke Island this October.
Committed to delivering a programme that reflects the diversity and richness of the global music community, Island Vibe has confirmed another round of artists spanning the best dub reggae, soul, dub, world, jungle, folk, hip hop and bass music.
International guests include Havana Meets Kingston SoundSystem ft Solis and Brenda Navarette (Cuba), bass producer Monkey Marc featuring an all-star entourage with Rider Shafique (UK), Jamacian rapper Fyah Roiall and champion turntablist DJ Wasabi.
Among the Australian contingent are the undisputed local party starters Mood Swing & Chevy Bass, Melbourne’s Ganga Giri the master of the didgeridoo and djembe (goblet drum originally from West Africa), Queensland’s ska outfit The Sunny Coast RudeBoys, Byron Bay’s Brazillian born reggae star Kimmy, surf ska lords Drop Legs, Jamilla with her fresh nu-soul feels all the way from Perth and Lady Banton with her infectious rhythms.
They join the first wave of Island Vibe 2019 artists, including Canadian/Indian Alysha Brilla and her all-female band, Opiou, Gardna, Soom T, JStar, The Mad Professor, Emily Wurramara and West African guitarist Moussa Diakite, with many more to be announced soon.
