Back for episode number 14, the annual celebration of all things reggae, roots and bass music as well as eco-themed workshops and initiatives, Island Vibe (SE QLD) have dropped the first sample of their 2019 programme headlined by Opiuo and Alysha Brilla.
With a commitment to deliver a line-up that reflects the diversity and richness of the musical community across the globe, other 2019 additions include the lyrical genius of UK's dancehall and junglist maestro Gardna, who will be backed by hip hop/ jungle producer Chris Munky.
Dancehall superstar Soom T (Scotland), Berlin’s legendary producer JStar, the world’s foremost legend of dub the Mad Professor (UK), First Nations soulstress Emily Wurramara and the timeless West African jive of Malian guitarist legend Moussa Diakite are also part of the action, when it lands at Point Look-Out (North Stradbroke Island) 24-27 October.
Alysha Brilla is a x3 Juno Award-nominated Indo-Tanzanian Canadian songwriter and producer. Her music draws on the influences of her unique background, blending Indian and East African sounds with a contemporary aesthetic.
Opiuo is a Kiwi who now calls Australia home. He is a chief sufferer of intense musical addiction, spending every spare second creating audible treats and selling out venues throughout the world.
