A celebration of the emerging music talent in South Australia, Scouted is back in 2023 offering 12 bands and artists the platform to be seen and heard in front of a national music industry audience.
Aligned with the Indie-Con Australia Conference (2-4 August) staged in Adelaide that features industry brains and taste makers across a mix of panels and workshops, Scouted takes place at Jive, The Lab, and Nexus Arts (4 August).The 12 selected artists who'll showcase at Scouted 2023 are Chloe Veronica, Emerauld, INFINITIES, Molly Rocket, Mum Thinks Blue, Purée, Stormy-Lou, Sunsick Daisy, Tonix, The Tullamarines, TUSHAR and Twine.
"Scouted serves as an incredible opportunity for these emerging talents," Christine Schloithe, CEO of Music SA, says.
"South Australia, geographically distant from the eastern seaboard where the national music industry thrives, often misses out on exposure.
"Being aligned with Indie-Con Australia enables us to invite delegates from the conference to experience Scouted and the showcasing artists, drawing in prominent music industry heavyweights to discover Adelaide's next big national talent."
Last year's Scouted 2022 class included Mum's Favourites, Natasha Bianca and Sacredd; all three were programmed for the Adelaide leg of Groovin The Moo 2023 as a direct result of Scouted.
Other 2022 Scouted artists to gain industry recognition include Coldwave (who played Adelaide's Laneway Festival), Bussey (added to the Heaps Good Festival line-up) and Sonz Of Zoku (winners of People's Choice Award - Experimental at the South Australian Music Awards who played WOMADelaide 2023).
"The South Australian Government's Music Development Office is proud to once again support Scouted, granting a dozen local acts the opportunity to connect with new audiences and showcase their talents to the national delegates of Indie-Con," South Australian Minister for Arts, Andrea Michaels MP says.
"I encourage South Australians to get out and celebrate these emerging artists, performing across some of Adelaide's favourite venues and bringing our UNESCO City of Music to life."
