Brisbane bombshell Sahara Beck is gearing up for the release of her new EP 'Queen Of Hearts'.
Produced by ARIA Award-nominated Tony Buchen (Mansionair, Courtney Barnett, Montaigne), it's set for an early October release. 'Queen Of Hearts' features previous singles 'I Haven't Done A Thing Today', 'Here We Go Again', and most recent release 'Don't Overthink It'.
She first worked with Tony in 2017, and the connection was so strong they were keen to get back in the studio together. “I spent two years throwing my heart and soul into these songs and my instinct was that Tony [Buchen] could help me take these songs to a place I'd only been dreaming of,” Sahara says about her studio buddy.
“I like how much he pushed me every day – more than anyone had before – and he got me to sing in ways I didn’t know I could.”
Earlier this year, Sahara won the Carol Lloyd Award at the Queensland Music Awards. It honours emerging Queensland female singer-songwriters.
Brisbane fans and South Bank regulars can catch Sahara at a special Sound Society gig in the Parklands in early September, featuring tasty treats and drinks, before she hits the frog and toad on a national tour.
On the subject of small, greenery-dwelling animals, Sahara's been kind enough to take the time out of her day to pass over some extremely useful life advice. Here, she lists five ways to catch a garden lizard.
One: Find out where all the insects hang out in your backyard, start hanging out there too, the lizard will get hungry sooner or later and when it does you'll be there, ready to catch it.
Two: Paint your entire body grey, roll up in a ball and lay completely still in a sunny spot, the lizard will think you are a hot rock to sunbathe on, when it does you'll be ready to catch it.
Three: Watch the kookaburras... They can see where all the lizards are. They're free lizard compasses.
Four: Get an oversized cardboard box, paint it up to look like a miniature theatre, write 'special lizard play on tonight only from 6pm' across the sides. At 6pm notice there is a large line of lizards waiting to get in, when they are, you'll be ready to catch them.
Five: Catch their heart first. Win their trust. When they trust you, catch them!
'Queen Of Hearts' is released 4 October.
