Queensland Music Trails 2023 Line-up

Queensland Music Trails returns in April-May 2023.

Queensland Music Trails returns in 2023 with a music line-up headlined by Lime Cordiale, C.W. Stoneking, Sycco, Hatchie and Emma Donovan & The Putbacks.

A series of live, bespoke music events staged in rural Queensland (the Outback, Scenic Rim and Southern Queensland), each 'Trail' ranges from one-day concerts to two-week adventures.

Qld Music Trails' boutique festival The Long Sunset returns to the Scenic Rim Trail, again taking over the picturesque and lush surrounds of Elysian Fields, Canungra - traditional land of the Wangerriburra people.

Indie rock-pop legends Lime Cordiale will headline The Long Sunset, joined by Hatchie, Sycco, and Tia Gostelow alongside local gourmet food and artisan goods as revellers soak up all the feels as the sun sets over the valley.

"We're itching to get up to Canungra, Queensland for The Long Sunset," shares Lime Cordiale. "It doesn't take much convincing to get us up to that beautiful part of the world! We might have to extend the trip and stay for a week, so we'll probably bump into you at the op shop."

The Outback Trail offers opportunities for 'epic stargazing, a grazing plate of music styles, endless horizons, laid-back afternoons and small towns with big voices' with several unique events: Oasis Afternoon; Light It Up at the Outback River Lights Festival; The Big Base Party; and The Sundowner.

Hussy Hicks, Karl S Williams, and Jem Cassar-Daley come together in St George for Oasis Afternoon; staged in Cunnamulla, Light It Up features a couple of amazing Indigenous voices: Emma Donavan & The Putbacks, and Alice Skye.

C.W. Stoneking & His Primitive Horn Orchestra will be joined by Everybody NOW! and The Pacific Belles as part of the two-day Big Base Party in Charleville. While Harry James Angus and The Barleyshakes Duo entertain at The Sundowner in Tambo. The Barleyshakes Duo will also join the action at the other three Outback Trail events.

"I'm so excited to take part in Qld Music Trails and play at the WWII Secret Base in Charleville," enthuses C.W. "Unlike the US soldiers stationed there in secret in 1943, I'm able to tell everybody I'll be there in April 2023. I can't wait to play our music in the outback. See you there."

Showcasing the best the Western Downs region has to offer, the Southern Trail will take you on a sophisticated meander through Big Sky country, set to a classical soundtrack offered by the well-loved Opera at Jimbour event.

Whether it's opera in a mansion, horseback riding in the Bunyas or an intimate night of chamber music, this Trail will give you a taste of the refined life with performances from Opera Queensland and Ensemble Q, among many others.

"Opera Queensland is committed to sharing the wonder and joy of opera with regional audiences across Queensland," Opera Queensland CEO & Artistic Director Patrick Nolan says.

"QMF and Jimbour House over many years have been integral partners in this mission. We look forward to continuing this relationship in 2023 and collaborating with Ensemble Q to immerse audiences in a programme of opera and fine music making in and around the majesty and beauty of this unique location."

From stunning coastal mountains and sun-drenched beaches to the lush rainforests of the far north or the open plains of the west, Qld Music Trails provides unique ways to explore the sunny state one incredible music event after the other.

"Queensland is a vast, spectacular and diverse place," QMF CEO & Creative Director, Joel Edmondson says.

"Queensland Music Trails events will create powerful engagement with the community, culture, heritage and natural appeal of our places, so that the world can experience the beautiful truth of what Queensland is, has been, and will become."

2023 Queensland Music Trails tickets go on sale from 14 February.
