Although a relatively new band, Sydney psychedelic rockers Magic Machine have been prolific since forming early last year.
They've already released one studio album, 'Strange World', last year. While earlier this year they released the single 'Out In The Country', which was the first taste of Magic Machine second record, 'Escapism' (due 1 July). Now they're almost ready to take the covers off the next instalment from 'Escapism', with the wild, spooky and mesmerising 'Daydreamer'.
Noodling, cruisy, psych-flecked rock reminiscent of The Doors meets Pink Floyd that features a lazy sax drooling its brassy goodness everywhere, the song then careens into a second adventure mid-song with a frenetic jam-out that finally morphs into a third section that's a woozy, laidback dirge of munted boogie blues that'll transport you inside the Scooby Mobile in a wonderful haze of warped sounds.
The quartet of Cameron Ford, Blake Lambert, James Lambert and Claudio Taccogna have been busy on the live circuit as well recently supporting Skegss.
They've also been added to the inaugural Wanderer Festival (South Coast NSW) that also features The Dandy Warhols, Confidence Man, The Teskey Brothers and a stack more.
"'Daydreamer' comes as the final single of our second record 'Escapism'," shares Cameron.
"A three-part journey through dreamy psychedelic guitar/ organ sounds riddled with saxophone."
With 'Daydreamer' to be released on Tuesday (28 June), scenestr is stoked to premiere the song today. Enjoy.
The band launch 'Escapism' at Caringbah Hotel (Sydney) 1 July. They also play Ryan's Hotel (Wollongong) 16 July. Magic Machine support The Uplifting Bell Ends tonight (24 June) at The Lansdowne (Sydney).
