Matt Corby

Australia's king of bluesy soul, Matt Corby will showcase his forthcoming new album 'Tragic World' when he tours nationally this winter.

Already slated to play regional festival Groovin The Moo's comeback event in Lismore next month, the 'Resolution' and 'Miracle Love' hitmaker will headline concerts in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane this June.

Set to drop next week (17 April; pre-order it), Matt has promoted the release of 'Tragic World' – his fourth studio album and first since 2023's 'Everything's Fine' which was nominated for Album Of The Year at the ARIA Awards and J Awards – with a string of singles, the most recent being 'War To Love'.

"One month of 'War To Love' being out in the world. Appreciate everyone who's listened. Not long now until my new album 'Tragic Magic' is out in the world," Matt posted.

Another album track, 'Burn It Down', was premiered live during Matt's recent support slot for Teddy Swims' Australia tour last October; we declared the song 'an upbeat, jazzy, '70s disco-soul number, with a butter-smooth melody wrapping itself around an irresistible rhythm that purrs. A vibe akin to an Isaac Hayes and Van Morrison jam.'

Praised as one of the country's most compelling live performers, Corby's shows are renowned for their intimacy and musicianship – a space where intricate arrangements and his unmistakable voice take centre stage.

That same Teddy Swims concert, we said of Matt's performance: '[He] offers an authentically raw style, the grit and sunshine of life seeping out of his honeyed pipes with an ease that soothes.'

Matt recently collaborated with Kingfishr on their new single 'The Blade'. "When I (Eddie) was learning guitar in college, 'Brother' by Matt Corby was one of the first things I played. I was hell bent on making my voice sound like his. . . Matt has been an inspiration to us forever. To have him on a track is a dream come true :)."

Joining Corby at his headline shows (only) will be former triple j Unearthed High winner Gretta Ray; the 'Vienna' and 'Drive' singer-songwriter has toured alongside the likes of Maisie Peters, Mumford & Sons and Gang Of Youths.

Tickets on sale from 11am (local time) on 13 April.
