We're not sure how Marina Abramovic became the flavour of the month for massive pop stars in need of an attention-grabbing video, but it's certainly resulted in some interesting footage.
Last month, Jay-Z spent the day at New York's Pace Gallery, performing 'Picasso Baby' right in the faces of a select group of fans (including Judd Apatow, Alan Cumming, Michael K Williams and Abramovic herself) for a music video inspired by Abramovic's The Artist Is Present installation.
Lady Gaga's taken the Abramovic love a step further with her new (decidedly NSFW) clip, in which the artist formerly known as Stefani Germanotta meditates, hugs a crystal, wears a blindfold inspired by a deformed unicorn and — in a move guaranteed to rack up views by the millions — gets naked in the wilderness.
The footage comes from a three-day retreat where Gaga undertook the 'Marina Abramovic Method', which involves "a series of exercises designed to heighten participants' awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment".
In our interview with Amanda Palmer yesterday, the controversial artist noted that "as a female performance artist, nudity is definitely a powerful tool".
In this case, it's a tool that can't hurt sales of Gaga's next LP, ARTPOP, when it drops later this month.
