Jay-Z Rapped At Marina Abramovic

Jay Z
Arts Editor and Senior Writer (many years until 2012)

The Roc is present.

After watching his buddy Kanye West cultivate his image as a cultured lover of the arts, Jay-Z apparently decided it was time to break himself off a piece of that New Yorker love.

S. Carter has spent a large part of the day (six hours, in fact) performing 'Picasso Baby', one of the standout tracks from his Magna Carta... Holy Grail LP, in the faces of fans at New York's Pace Gallery. The performance is expected to result in a music video for the song.

The idea was largely inspired by celebrated contemporary performance artist Marina Abramovic, whose The Artist Is Present installation saw her sit across from visitors at MoMA for a minute at a time. As a tip of the hat to Abramovic (also a favourite of Lady Gaga's), he got up in her grills and rapped the track at her.

You crazy for this one, Jay!
