Fresh from his one-off Australian appearance at Harvest Rock in Adelaide (he also joined Courtney Barnett's band opening for Nick Cave at Hanging Rock), Kurt Vile is bringing The Violators back to Oz for a national run next year.
Already revealed as one of the headliners at regional Victorian festival Meadow, the tour will also visit Fremantle, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane from late March to early April.Earlier this year, the Philadelphian lo-fi rocker released his newest album 'Watch My Moves', which he recorded at his home studio in Philly's Mount Airy neighbourhood with help from long-time collaborator Rob Schnapf (Richard Thompson, Elliott Smith).
"When Waylon Jennings became an outlaw country artist, he liked to record at Hillbilly Central, which was Tompall Glaser's studio," Kurt says.
"OKV Central is my version of that in Mount Airy. I've come into my own here, and at the same time I'm getting back to my home-recording roots.
"It's about songwriting. It's about lyrics. It's about being the master of all domains in the music.
"I'm always thinking about catchy music, even though it's fried, or sizzled, out. It's my own version of a classic thing – it's moving forward and backward at the same time."
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 2 December.
