Introducing Country Singer-Songwriter Tori Darke

Tori Darke
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

A career that's a decade-deep, last year country singer-songwriter Tori Darke courted a mainstream following after appearing on 'The Voice Australia'.

The experience, where she joined one of her childhood idols Team LeAnn Rimes making the Top 12, also led to a new creative partnership with fellow contestant and country artist, Brad Butcher.

About to hit the road as a support act for Lee Kernaghan, before those live dates Tori and Brad will perform as part of Stones Corner Festival's 2025 line-up.

With a couple of studio albums and countless singles featuring her emotional songwriting to her name, Tori has a passion for connecting with her fans. Whether delivering a high-energy festival performance or an intimate acoustic set, Tori's authenticity and raw talent shines through, leaving a lasting impact wherever she performs.

Who is... Tori Darke from a young age loved to sing. She began singing lessons at the age of ten and there was simply no stopping her after that. She sang in many talent competitions and did well, but her love for country music was always there, and at the age of 15 she made a call and that was that she was going to be a country singer just like LeAnn Rimes.

Since this time, Tori has record an EP and two albums along with many single releases. She has toured with some of Australia's biggest country acts and played her own headline shows. Last year she made the top 12 on Australia's 'The Voice' alongside country artist Brad Butcher. Brad and Tori have since joined force and have begun their journey recording, writing and performing music together.

I sound like... A mix of Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and LeAnn Rimes.

My first gig was... At Menangle House Horse and Jockey Inn at age 15.

When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Tori is short for Victoria and Darke is my maiden name.

In the studio I usually... Act like a complete idiot. It makes the day lighthearted and fun.

If I could tour with anyone... Keith Urban.

Social media is... Bloody hard work, but can be a lot of fun.

My favourite app at the moment is... Instagram. I love that you can see someone's life through pictures and videos. It's almost like you feel you're there with them.

To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time... Slipping in the pouring rain after a show, down about 20 stairs while carrying my 20kg suitcase.

Life on the road can be... Absolutely anything. Expect it to be fun, stressful, full of laughter and some great music.

If you'll have me on your bill, all I ask is that the rider contains... Chippies.

The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... Being followed to my car.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be your spokesperson... Dolly Parton, because she's a boss and I think she'd keep everything and everyone in line.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? London, because it's one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to and I feel like I could call it home very happily.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn and Trisha Yearwood. Because they're all iconic artists in country music and I'd love to pick their brains on their music careers.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Barramundi and spuds.

When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? I am obsessed with animals and very obsessed with my Border Collie Dash.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... Don Julio tequila.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Today.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Cleaning.

Do you have any phobias... No, I don't actually.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? Yes I would. Last year I was on 'The Voice'. It was a life-changing experience and I have no regrets.

Best local takeaway joint for a midnight feed that will leave you with a food coma? Any kind of midnight kebab is my go to after a night out; there also has to be hot chippies.

Last show you binge-watched? '1923'.

Stones Corner Festival takes place at Logan Road, Stones Corner (Brisbane) on 4 May from 12pm-10pm. It's free entry.
