The country noir, Americana, indie rock stylings of Tucson, Arizona, natives Calexico return to Australia in 2024.
2023 has seen the group, led by the core duo of Joey Burns and John Convertino, tour extensively throughout Europe and America in support of the 20th anniversary of their seminal record, 'Feast Of Wire'.Already announced as part of Tent Pole Festival in Geelong, joining the likes of Dinosaur Jr and Mogwai, Calexico have added headline shows in Melbourne, Castlemaine, Sydney, Perth, and Adelaide as well as two shows in Gippsland at Meeniyan Town Hall.
Calexico's fourth studio album, 'Feast Of Wire' proved to be the record that saw them breakthrough to the mainstream, with a catalogue now stretching 12 albums deep, their most recent LP being 2022's 'El Mirador'.
"I'm reminded of how much time and space we had in the studio to try out all sorts of ideas," Joey says, looking back at the recording of 'Feast Of Wire'.
"Most of the recordings started like they often do with John on drums and myself on guitar. And as we brought in the other band members it was like a river was flooding through our subconsciousness and we couldn't get the ideas to analog tape fast enough."
These shows find Calexico playing 'Feast Of Wire' in its entirety, followed by a set of the band's fan favourites; here's hoping they add 'Goin' To Acapulco', 'Father Mountain', 'History Of Lovers' and 'Follow The Water' to the set.
Tickets on sale from 30 October.
