After staging a successful debut event this year, where the collective spirit was "we might just do this again," Surf Coast music festival Tent Pole: A Musical Jamboree returns in 2024.
Prepare for iconic, indie, lo-fi, hi-fi, post-punk, alternative, renegade rock as a trio of internationals will arrive at Geelong's Mt Duneed Estate (17 February) led by alternative rock pioneers Dinosaur Jr. (playing their 1993 seminal album 'Where You Been' in full), as well as Scottish post-rock lords Mogwai (who achieved another UK #1 album with 2021's 'As Love Continues') and Arizona desert noir, nu-folk, alt. country legends Calexico (who released their 13th studio album, 'El Mirador', in 2022).A collaboration between Roundhouse Entertainment (the team behind a day on the green), Love Police (Out On The Weekend and Boogie), and Johann Ponniah (founder of I OH YOU), Tent Pole features a line-up of ten acts on two stages with no timetable clashes.
The 2024 bill also boasts Melbourne blues-rock-folk powerhouse Cash Savage And The Last Drinks, revered post-punk rockers RVG; Melbourne punksters Civic, local one-of-a-kind techno artist Our Carlson, Melbourne garage post-punks Delivery, Frankston's own indie pop purveyors The Belair Lip Bombs, and alt-rock singer-songwriter Al Matcott.
"The vibe created this year by the punters and the bands, and the spirit of good times will live on," Love Police's BT says. "It's a privilege to be able to help curate the tunes again and deliver it to the sweet Surf Coast."
Adds Johann Ponniah of I OH YOU: "I had an absolute blast at the inaugural Tent Pole earlier this year and am so stoked with the line-up for '24. Pumped to hit the Surf Coast again!"
