This Easter, Brisbane punk royalty Blowhard will mark one year since the passing of their larger-than-life founder and vocalist Brentyn 'Rollo' Rollason with a tribute show in his honour (which will also mark Blowhard's final live performance ever).

A revered figure in the Brisbane punk scene, Rollo is celebrated for his mammoth contributions as both the frontman of Blowhard and an avid concert promoter.

The likes of Custard, Powderfinger and members of Regurgitator all played early shows at Rollo-driven events, as did many an up-and-coming interstate band.

Last year, Rollo unexpectedly died after suffering a heart attack as he was preparing to go onstage with Blowhard for a show at The Brightside. The news came as a shock for many in the local scene who had known Rollo as a driving force behind independent Brisbane music.

The remaining members of Blowhard come together in April with top-flight alternative bands form Brisbane and Sydney for a tribute show in honour of Rollo's legacy.

The line-up includes a who’s who of home-grown alternative music: Emma Bosworth, Strange Stains, Fred Band, Flangipanis, Shandy, Blitz Babiez, Neptune Power Federation, FAT and Nancy Vandal.

It's a fitting, final celebration of the life and times of a man considered by many to be an inspirational pioneer for punk and alternative music in Brisbane and beyond.

'Blowhard & Friends: Celebrating The Life And Times Of Rollo' is on at The Tivoli Theatre (Brisbane) 11 April.
