Pop culture, pop music and gaming are three of Jesse’s biggest passions. Lady Gaga, Real Housewives and The Sims can almost sum him up – but he also adores a night at the cinema or a trip to the theatre.

A selection of the bands who performed in Ipswich's first Battle Of The Bands earlier this year will return to perform at a new Ipswich event – Street Beat.

Sound Of Truth, Secondhand Toothbrush, Dave Is A Spy, The Stray Selection, Fourth Mantra and Chasing Closure will all be performing at the event, which features an array of activities and artwork catered for youth and youngsters.

Chasing Closure, the rock/ hardcore group who won Battle Of The Bands, have released a studio EP since their win and have been jamming since 2009. They pride themselves on appealing to a wide range of audiences, encouraging pop fans all the way though to metal fans to listen.

Rockers Sound Of Truth who boast killer vocals and a passion for performing. While Secondhand Toothbrush have headlined Ipswich's Rock The Reef festival and describe their audio as “punkish rock metal kinda stuff”, which is enough to sell tickets left, right and centre.

Dave Is A Spy is a “stupidly catchy pop-rock” three-piece who released their new EP 'Sleeping In Public With Strangers' in September. Another alternative rock outfit, The Stray Selection recently did a show at The Milk Factory to launch their newest EP, and are influenced by bands like Killing Heidi, Paramore and Evanescence. Last but not least, rockers Fourth Mantra join the Street Beat line-up, boasting a #23 position on the triple j roots charts and having airplay all the way down in Melbourne.

Battle Of The BandsA six-band lineup with talent proved through Battle Of The Bands means that music fans won't be disappointed. They'll rock the City Square on Saturday 19 December.

The fresh new arts and music event in Ipswich will run for a week, featuring vibrant street art, skateboarding workshops and of course, live music. School holiday workshops will also mean kids from 12 and up can add their own touches to an art installation which will call Ipswich City Square it's permanent home.

Street Beat2Most of the events at Street Beat are thanks to the Australian Skateboarding Community initiative, which is more than just a passionate group of skateboarders. The initiative prides itself in holding competitions and events with the intention of bringing communities together, and features a panel of experienced organisers and members.

Street Beat takes place in Ipswich City Square 14-19 December.
