Gear up grommets, the 'Swich will be showing off their stalefish, ollies and nosegrinds in December with a week of skateboarding, street art, live music and more.
Goofy or regular, if you can grind (or want to learn how), Street Beat '15 is the rock & rollin' place to shred. An initiative of Ipswich City Square, Street Beat is gearing up to be a massive, week-long youth festival, featuring killer street art from the Keylines team, live music featuring Ipswich Battle Of The Bands contestants, youth markets, skate demos and workshops thanks to the team at the Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative.
From 14 December, Ipswich City Square will feature a full-sized half-pipe skate ramp with free lessons available from the ASCI team. Bookings are essential if you want to learn some moves, and discount skate merchandise will be on sale at the pop-up shop if you don't have your own deck.
The Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative provides skate events around the country with their team of pro skaters. They provide services to local and state government to develop sustainable programmes and models around skateparks and facilitators. All of their works have a focus on youth and community development and aim to grow the sport while also keeping it safe, accessible and inclusive to everyone – but still creative, challenging and fun.
Street Beat '15 takes place in Ipswich City Square, 14-19 December.
