For a brief (and incredibly gullible) moment, the internet believed that hoverboards were real yesterday.
Of course, it was a fake video (linking to a fake website, huvrtech.com), but one question remained unanswered: Why? What was the incredibly elaborate viral clip — featuring Christopher Lloyd, Tony Hawk, Moby, Terrell Owens, Best Coast and more — actually promoting?
It turns out it was a promo for a 'Funny Or Die' competition. While hoverboards (tragically) aren't real, one lucky bastard will get to take home a (fake) hoverboard from the shoot signed by all of the celebrities involved, including Doc Brown himself.
Because they're classy (and funny) dudes, Christopher Lloyd and Tony Hawk have apologised for their part in this deception.
