Ipswich City Square will launch a brand new event this December with Street Beat ’15 – a week of street art, skateboarding, live music and youth markets.
Kicking off on 14 December, the festival will utilise blank spaces in Ipswich City Square where pro street artists will create amazing murals featuring lots of local flavour. The Queensland Motorsport Museum will have murals added to their entire mall frontage, which will feature a stunning motor sport themed piece, while two blank walls in the Union Place precinct will score their own unique works of art.
Kids aged over 12 will be able to take part in free school holiday workshops with the artists, adding their own flavour to a specially built, giant cube which will become a permanent piece of art in the Square.
As well as street art, there will also be a week of skateboarding workshops and demos led by a team of professional boarders from the Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative.
The week-long youth festival will culminate in a huge day on Saturday 19 December with skate demonstrations, the unveiling of the street art, live music featuring Battle of the Bands acts and markets.
