SAE: Adelaide Gets The Blues With On The Ground Experience Opportunities

SAE

In partnership with Bluesfest touring, two SAE Creative Media Institute students, Kaitlyn and Jack, had the opportunity to work at a live concert of Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, an eight piece Blues and Americana group from Denver Colorado.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats took to the road across Australia this April with live dates in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne in conjunction with their performance at Byron Bay Bluesfest.

In Adelaide, the Diploma of Music Industry and Studio Production students assisted the sound engineer and band with all aspects of the show, including initial set up, sound check, tuning the room as well as managing the sound for the live performance.

SAE has an established and longstanding relationship with Bluesfest in Byron Bay, and students have been getting on the ground experience at the festival for many years. 2019 is the second year that SAE students had the opportunity to join Bluesfest sideshow tours taking place around the country.

SAE Adelaide Campus Manager Johann Dreyer says the opportunity for students to learn on the job with a professional live sound engineer is an invaluable experience.

"Bluesfest Touring is enabling our students to get hands-on, working with international touring bands, what a fantastic outcome for these aspiring audio engineers," Johann says.

You can learn more about work placement opportunities at the SAE Info Night, where aspiring audio engineers and music producers will converge at the world’s leading creative media institute in Adelaide.

There will also be general information sessions held on the night where you will learn about unique programmes, career pathways, learning outcomes and admissions information.

The bi-annual SAE Info night is for students, career changers and anyone contemplating a career in audio. It’s a chance for visitors to get up close and personal with campus facilities, meet students and chat with staff about study and career options.

On the night you will have the opportunity to:
