Markets, live music and a pop-up bar come to Victoria Green throughout the Christmas season.
With family gatherings and panic gift buying, Christmas can be a hectic time of year. Luckily Destination Docklands has created a reprieve from the stress of the festive period. Supported by City of Melbourne and Lend Lease, the organisation stages 'Christmas on the Green', a series of events that aim to bring friends and family together during the hectic festive period.
“Christmas is always such a crazy time we really wanted to make it easy for people to enjoy the season and relax with their work colleagues and to invite their friends and family down to Docklands for an after work catch-up," says Destination Docklands CEO Anita Donnelly. "We created this new event Christmas on the Green in the hope it will ease everyone calmly into the silly season or give them a break from it if they started early!”
Mountain Goat Brewery serves handcrafted Australian ales and regional wines throughout the 'Christmas on the Green' events while 'bar on wheels', Kombi Crush offers up a variety of tempting cocktails. Food trucks are on hand with freshly cooked fare and live music comes courtesy of Ibis, Blush and Melbourne jazz and soul band, Phoebe and the Night Creatures.
The events also play host to a variety of urban market stalls selling homemade puddings, jewellery, organic tea and handmade soap. Perfect for a spot of last minute gift shopping - or perhaps the odd Christmas treat for yourself.
'Christmas on the Green' runs at Victoria Green from Friday November 29. Friday December 6 and and Friday December 13.
