1NN3R53LF is a Melbourne-based producer and DJ known for his high-energy, euphoric dance music.

Since debuting in November 2023, he has quickly gained attention with a unique sound that blends '90s and early 2000s dance culture with a modern twist.

Next week, he'll showcase at BIGSOUND but before he does, here 1NN3R53LF (pronouned 'innerself') leans into his morning rituals and offers advice for those looking to wake themselves up better.

"I'm 1NN3R53LF, a dance music producer and DJ. I picked a Top 5 morning rituals because I love the contrast.

"The chaotic late nights in the dance world versus early mornings rooted in wellness. I'm big on balance, and leaning into that morning energy has become part of the ritual too."

1: Cold showers

Cold showers boost your mood, wake up your brain, lower inflammation, and build a lil mental resilience in like two minutes!

I started doing them because my Dad used to do cold winter swims in the morning when I was growing up and I used to think he was crazy. They can feel like a bit of a punishment, but the energy afterwards is unreal.

2: Breathwork

After a cold shower while my body is still cold, I do a short, ten-minute breathwork session. Usually it's a Wim Hof-style breath retention because it trains your body to handle stress, boosts energy, and helps build a calm mind.

For me, it heats my body back up and in combination with the cold shower, boosts the immune system. I like to do little mindfulness prompts while in retention; it helps keep me distracted during that process and it feels amazing too.

3: Tea ceremony

I studied tea and the art of meditational tea ceremony, and it's honestly become a bit of an obsession. I love the simplicity and the intention behind being fully present with a cup of tea.

There's something really beautiful about the space a tea ceremony creates, just slowing down, sharing a hot drink, and connecting with others. I enjoy facilitating ceremonies, but I also just really love tea itself and all the teaware that comes with it.

4: Yoga

I studied yoga and completed teacher training in Hatha yoga, which was honestly life-changing. There are different styles out there, but for me, it really comes down to intentional movement.

I'm not super strict with my practice, but every time I show up on the mat, I feel great. If you haven't tried yoga before, it's definitely worth exploring to see if it resonates with you.

5: Gym time

As much as I love working on my mental, the physical side is just as important. Like with yoga, I'm drawn to the intention behind movement and I really enjoy the discipline and sense of progress that comes with training at the gym.

"Final thoughts. Morning routines are personal, and honestly, mine changes depending on how much sleep I've had or what city I'm in, but having a few rituals or little things that make me feel human before diving into the noise of the day makes a huge difference."
