Watch The Batman: Arkham Knight Trailer

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Batman is coming to next-gen consoles.

Set one year after the insanely popular 'Arkham City' — and more or less ignoring the not-so-popular 'Arkham Origins', which was made by another developer — Rocksteady Studios' 'Batman: Arkham Knight' will take place in a Gotham City five times larger than any we've seen in a video game before.

In a first for the series, the game will enable you to drive the Batmobile — which has immobilising missiles, can be summoned at any time, smashes through most objects, and can eject Batman at any time. So, yeah, it pretty much sounds like the greatest thing ever.

The game will not feature a multiplayer option (which is not necessarily a big deal, because nobody likes being Robin anyway). Rocksteady game director Sefton Hill told Game Informer his team is focused "on making the best single-player experience we can".

After skipping 'Arkham Origins', voice actor Kevin Conroy will return to play Batman in 'Arkham Knight'.

'Batman: Arkham Knight' will hit the PS4 and Xbox One later this year. It's billed as "the explosive finale to the 'Arkham' series", meaning this will be the developers' last chance to work the Batusi into a video game.
