Flappy Bird Less Than 24 Hours To Live

Flappy Bird is being deleted by its developer.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The developer of viral sensation, 'Flappy Bird', is taking a giant pipe to his bird.

Dong Nguyen has tweeted he's taking the game down "in 22 hours", (which is now closer than that, depending on when you're reading this story).

He tweeted “I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore. It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore.”

Nguyen said earlier this week that the press was “overrating” the success of his games: “It is something I never want. Please give me peace.”

In case you've been hibernating in a pipe for the last two weeks, Flappy Bird, a low budget app was released in 2013 and largely ignored until a few weeks ago when it raced to the top if the iTunes downloads list. More here.
