Trent Jones – scenestr of the day

Trent Jones
What do you do?
Monday to Friday I’m a solicitor for a law firm called McInnes Wilson Lawyers, on the weekend I locum as a pharmacist, and in my spare time I organise with my two mates the Brisbane-based events The Winter Social and Sunset Affair.

Why do you do it?
Why not! I literally have a passion for all the things I do. The legal world is so universal and engaging, helping people with their health is so rewarding and then of course who wouldn’t love organising unique and opulent parties!

What do you love about the city you live in?
Brisbane is such a fun, active and vibrant city. It has everything all the other major Australian cities have minus the long queues and traffic. Plus of course the weather and the nearby beaches!

Where did you go for your last holiday?
Bangkok to play in a rugby tournament. Bangkok is definitely a city alive with culture. I ate roasted scorpions from street vendors; drank cobra-infused alcohol and saw giant, golden buddhas.

What's your favourite item of clothing? My budgy smugglers! What Australian doesn’t love cutting about in them, from cleaning the house to surfing at the beach haha.

What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'The Simpsons'. Look let’s be honest I still watch it! I’ve learnt so much from that show.

If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
There are so many great moments in history but Australia winning the America’s Cup; wouldn’t that be a great DAY and a great day being Australian.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Can I say I’d rather take you out? There are so many cool restaurants to eat and drink I haven’t tried in Brisbane. Everyone wins! (Otherwise chicken and leech pie)

What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
A life not lived is not worth living. I try and apply this to every opportunity and adventure that arises.

Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I once saved up in grade 10 and paid to go to a physics camp on my school holidays. Let’s keep that a secret.

Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
Yes, definitely. I love being busy and I love how I’ve split up my time. However, I’m finding it tough to make rugby training!

How do you define success? I define success by achieving the goals that I’ve set for myself. Also having a life filled with family, good friends and adventure I believe are key ingredients to a successful person. Life is short.

What's your spirit animal?
A wolf. They work exceptionally well in packs but obviously can go lone ranger if needed.
