Stefan Hunt is the Director of ‘Yeah The Boys’, which won the Panasonic Award For Best Australian Film at the Flickerfest short film festival in 2024. Flickerfest is currently touring nationally.
What do you do?
Make films. Draw pictures. Tell dad jokes to my son.
Why do you do it?
Because between now and my inevitable death I want to fill my life with as much joy as I can.
What do you love about the city you live in?
My community.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
South Coast NSW.

My bagel t-shirt from Montreal.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
‘Fresh Prince Of Bel Air’. Or ‘Art Attack’.

If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?I feel like I’m meant to say Woodstock or something cool. But probably to some biblical time when something miraculous happened. Would give me so much clarity. And an amazing pub story.

Ricotta & oregano meatballs.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Not everyone pays tax, so death is truly the only guarantee in life. Accepting that can either be a head wind or a tail wind.

Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
No. But I love my life. And I love my work. And that makes me happy.
How do you define success?
By this Ralph Waldo Emerson quote:
“What is success? To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate the beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
