I’m the Assistant Content Director at Fresh 92.7 (Adelaide community radio) and I host our current-affairsy show, ‘Wavelength’, on Monday nights.
Why do you do it?
Honestly, it’s the perfect job for me. I only graduated a year ago, yet I’ve scored a job where I get to work with music, add to Adelaide’s culture, work with great people and be creative. It’s hard enough scoring a job in media fresh out of uni, let alone your dream job.
What do you love about the city you live in?
Adelaide is really, really cool. There’s so much cool shit happening here, you just need to scratch the surface to find it. It’s an easy lifestyle. It’s easy to get around. Adelaide’s also such a tightly-knit community – everyone really does know everyone – but in my experience, that’s a good thing. Most of the people I know in Adelaide are really friendly and everyone is generally quite willing to work together.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Sydney, for the APRA Awards. Can you believe it was my first time in Sydney, at 24 years of age?
What's your favourite item of clothing?
I have a pretty extensive collection of ‘Millennial Pink’ t-shirts. Some would say I have too many, but those people don’t realise how good pretty much everyone looks in pink.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
I was a junkie for the anime shows. 'Cheez TV' used to play: 'Pokemon', 'Digimon', 'Dragon Ball Z', 'Sailor Moon'… I can’t choose between them.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
I’d love to go back to Chicago, when house music was just starting to emerge. It’s crazy to think that what started as a sub-culture over there in the '80s has now somehow become the template for most of the music we hear on the radio these days.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Probably some kind of pasta. Carbonara or I can make a mean mac & cheese. Something super indulgent that makes you want to take a nap after eating it.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
A friend recently taught me that you can use a vegetable peeler on a block of cheese to peel off perfect slices. It changed my life.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I dance in the shower. It’s like singing in the shower, except none of my housemates can hear me,and it’s heaps more dangerous.
Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
I probably wouldn’t be happy with my work/ life balance if I didn’t love what I was doing. But I do, so I don’t think twice about going the extra mile.
How do you define success?
Meeting the goals you’ve set for yourself. Success isn’t success if it’s not on your own terms.
What's your spirit animal?
I like to think it would be a seal. They’re like the dogs of the ocean. They’re great.
